Roberta Owen , 89, born on Oct. 11, 1934, in Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her home in Boerne, Texas, on April 18, 2024.

Roberta was a business administration graduate from Steven’s College in Columbia, Missouri, had an interior design degree from San Jacinto College, held a master gardener certification and had also obtained her real estate broker’s license.

During her 30-year real estate career in Houston, Roberta was employed by Clear Lake, and Levering and Reid Realty companies as well as Martha Turner Properties. Roberta was completely dedicated to her loving family, who in turn, affectionately and faithfully doted upon her. Roberta loved gardening and birdwatching. She loved to spend her days feeding and identifying the many species of birds and animals that would all drop in daily to her own meticulously designed gardens and backyard.

Above all, Roberta will be remembered for measureless generosity, kindness, compassion and maternal strength. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Roberta was preceded in death by her father, Robert G. Gundstrom, her mother, Josephine Latour Gundstrom, her husband, Leonard , ex-husband David Owen, her two sisters, Laura Fischer and Joan Cismoski, her twin brother, Robert Gundstrom, as well as two children, Antoinette “Toni” Owen and David Henkel Owen.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Angela Elizabeth Owen, her two grandchildren, Jennifer Michele Owen and David Douglas Owen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

As a remembrance of her great love for animals, any memorial donations may be made in her name to the ASPCA.

Services will be held on May 3, 2024, at the Forest Park East Funeral home, 21620 Gulf Freeway 77598. Visitation begins at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery.
