Ronald Wayne Squyres, born Dec. 19, 1951, in Port Lavaca, Texas, peacefully departed from this world on April 11 of this year. A visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Holt & Holt Funeral Home, 319 E. San Antonio Ave. In Boerne. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. April 27, 2024, at Faith Church in San Antonio, with committal to follow at the Boerne Cemetery.
Ronnie’s journey was enriched by the love and memories he shared with his family. He now reunites with his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents, Leland and Dorothy , and his sister Brenda Jo Lee, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by his wife of 51 years, JoAnn , and their three children: Shane , Noani Griffis (and her husband Kyle Griffis), and Daniel (and his wife Gina ).
Ronnie’s presence will continue to be felt by his 15 grandchildren, including Jerni, Karysma and her husband Paul, R.J., Cody, Bella, Aubrey, Isabel, Jeremiah, Serynity, Addison, Micah, Shiia, Jaiidyn, and Christian. He also leaves behind his great-grandchild Riyan, with another on the way.
Ronnie is further survived by his sister-in-love Judy Desha, brotherin- love Scott Desha, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ronnie’s passions illuminated his life. He found solace in fishing, especially bow fishing, and reveled in the thrill of the hunt. His love for Mustang cars reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and speed.
Above all, Ronnie’s heart was devoted to his faith and family. Jesus was his guiding light, followed closely by his unwavering love for his family and his beloved dogs. His fondest memories were crafted through moments of music and togetherness, where he shared his talents in playing drums, guitar, and bass with those he loved.
A pillar in his community, Ronnie selflessly served as a pastor at His Hands Church, enriching the lives of many through worship and guidance. His dedication extended beyond the church walls, as evidenced by his 21 years of service at South Texas Wastewater, where he formed lasting bonds with colleagues like Bruce Cobabe and Ron Graham.
Ronnie’s gentle demeanor belied his inner strength and unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his faith. He was, in every sense, a Superman of family and faith.
As he transcends into eternal rest, Ronnie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His impact was profound, evident in the countless lives he touched.
Though his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to call him friend, family, or mentor.
It is certain that Ronnie has now heard the Lord say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” Ronnie, your journey may have ended here, but your legacy of love and faith will endure for generations to come.
