Doris Ebner

Doris Ebner was born Aug. 14, 1936, to Richard and Lenore Gibson. She passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, at the age of 87.

Her journey began in San Antonio, where she spent her formative years until she crossed paths with John Ebner, the love of her life, in Boerne. Their bond endured over five decades of marriage until John’s passing in 2005.

They established themselves in Boerne where Doris played a pivotal role in managing and operating Ebner’s Drug Store. She was a familiar face behind the cash register and the soda fountain.

During the 1970’s Doris opened The Gift Loft, a haven for popular gift items and wedding registries, where she provided a refined touch to bridal selections and stationery for invitations.

Beyond her entrepreneurial endeavors, Doris was deeply engaged in enriching the Boerne community. She spearheaded the inaugural Miss Berges Fest Pageant and rallied local businesses for sponsorships, while her

affiliations with various organizations like Genealogical Society of Kendall County and Boerne Area Historical Preservation Society underscored her commitment to preserving the town’s heritage.

She was the longest standing member of First United Methodist Church of Boerne where she volunteered in many capacities. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, enjoying sisterhood for over 50 years.

Doris was an avid reader of books and newspapers alike. She relished staying informed about current events and found joy in lively discussions with her peers in the Boerne Literacy Society.

In later years, Doris volunteered at the Boerne Chamber of Commerce, where her encyclopedic knowledge of Boerne’s history and animated personality made her a beloved fixture among tourists and locals alike.

As a wife, mother and grandmother, she exemplified the joys of family bonds, fostering relationships and creating cherished memories through gatherings.

Doris is survived by her children, Stacy Minor and husband Russell of Boerne, Texas, Ross Ebner and wife Barbara of Georgetown, Texas, and David Ebner and wife Dafana of Boerne, Texas, along with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

To honor Doris’s memory, she kindly asked that instead of flowers, families come together for a meal, preferably seated at a round table.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on April 24, 2024, at the Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. April 25, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church of Boerne, followed by a reception.
