Thanks to the support of our community, voters in the Boerne ISD boundaries voted to pass BISD bond propositions 1 and 2 in May. We are very grateful to the voters for supporting this bond, as it was truly a grassroots effort, led by the Long Range Steering Committee. We are greatly appreciative to the total of over 80 parents, students, staff, and community members who served on the committee, and worked hard to help pass this bond.

Family matriarch, Maggie Dunleavy, uncharacteristically, has invited her dysfunctional family to celebrate both her birthday and the 4th of July at her New Jersey home.

After the effervescence of December, the long, dark days of January seem a fizzy drink gone flat. But January, lowly stepchild of December, should be justly celebrated for she brings to us a new year shining with hope and promise. Days stretch before us like an untraveled road, waiting for that first step in the journey to our goals and dearest dreams.

With 2022 coming to a close, family and friends may be eager to celebrate the new year with fireworks. Many pets, however, may not welcome the loud noises or bright lights that accompany the celebratory event.

Some dogs enjoy the spoils of begging for food; they might even swipe something off of a plate or the table when they think no one is watching. Yet these scraps aren’t always healthy for dogs and can create health issues over time.

I have a lot of things to discuss this month, so let’s dive right into it. Since Christmas is right around the corner, I get inquiries about this time for the best telescope for the budding Astrophysicist in your family.

Think about the last time you walked around outside even if it was just to or from your vehicle. You probably saw trash on the ground or blowing around. Did you stop and pick it up?

I cannot believe my favorite time of the year is already here, “CHRISTMAS.” Please take a minute to close your eyes and picture the perfect Christmas. Some may imagine the smell of fresh-baked goods filling the house, the tree glistening with perfectly hung lights, and a fire crackling as the kids play with new toys. Of course, all children deserve to smile on Christmas day. However, Christmas is the one time during the year when the focus is on giving, emphasizing the excitement in the child’s eye as they unwrap a present specially chosen just for them.

There are lots of reasons to celebrate during the Christmas Season. Family members often come together finding time for holiday activities-- with sincere intentions of celebrating peace, love and goodwill towards mankind.
