Boerne ISD tabs new communications director
Dr. Maggie Callahan Dominguez

Maggie Callahan Dominguez, Ph.D., joins the Boerne Independent School District this week as the executive director of district-community relations.

Dominguez, who has worked in development and communications for the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor since 2020, will oversee all areas of community relations, including communications, marketing, public relations, partnerships and outreach.

Dominguez has more than 15 years of professional communications experience in higher education, academic medical centers and student success.

Before her work with the University of Michigan, she was the director of writing, director of first-year seminars, and an assistant professor of English at Hastings College in Nebraska.

“ High quality communication supports and brings to life strategic engagement,” said Dr. Kristin Craft, Boerne superintendent. “ Our families, community members, and partners are invested in many ways and our employees serve our district day and night to ensure the best learning environments for students and staff to thrive. We need to celebrate these stories with the community.”

As needs emerge, Craft said, “I will align resources to our priorities, demonstrating Boerne ISD’s focus on continuous improvement and strategic resource management that will further strengthen student outcomes.”

Dominguez completed her bachelor’s degree at University of Incarnate Word. She earned a master’s degree at Texas Tech University and a doctoral degree from Louisiana State University.

Dominguez and her husband grew up in the Corpus Christi area, graduating from Grego ry-Portland ISD. Dominguez said they are delighted to return to their home state of Texas and put down roots in the Boerne community.
