Bobcats best Brady, 80-63

The Comfort boys basketball team made it two in a row in District 5-3A play as they bested Brady last Friday at home, 80-63.

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 17-9 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Comfort will visit Florence Wednesday, in a game moved from Tuesday, as they continue league action. The Cats host Blanco Friday.

Last Friday’s contest was close early and Comfort was only leading by a point at the end of the first quarter, 17-16, but the Bobcats pulled away in the second after they won the stanza, 21- 8, for the 38- 24 advantage at halftime.

The teams traded buckets in the second half as Comfort scored 42 points vs. 39 points for the Bulldogs.

The Bobcats had four finish in double figures after Omar Rivera led the team with 21 points, Jayden Steward added 20 points, Jared Valadez netted 15 and Jovani Zapata tallied 12.

Jackson Dear chipped in with 7 points, Trent Berny had 3 and Alex Padilla added 2.

Steward made it a double-double with 13 rebounds to go with his 20 points. Zapata dished out 7 assists, Valadez had 5 assists, Rivera came up with 4 steals, while Steward also recorded 3 steals and a block.
