Boerne boys push win streak to 49 straight

Boerne High continued its district soccer season last Friday by playing Kerrville Tivy.

The Lady Greyhounds were at Kerrville and the boys hosted the Antlers.

Because of the weather, both Greyhound teams had Tuesday’s matches moved to Wednesday as they continue district action.

The BHS boys are at Veterans Memorial and the Lady Greyhounds host the Lady Patriots. After that, Boerne tangles with Smithson Valley on Friday before playing Boerne Champion next Tuesday.

Varsity Boys

The BHS boys topped the Antlers, 4-1, and also improved to 4-1 overall.

With the win, Boerne pushes its win streak to 49 straight after last Friday’s victory.

Shae Gonzales, Kolton Fischer and Gabe Sallick all had single goals while the team received some help from the Antlers with an own goal.

Gonzales and Austin Vecino both tallied single assists in the match as well.

Varsity Girls

The Boerne High girls soccer team shut down another district opponent and earned its second straight shutout in District 26-5A last Friday.

BHS traveled to Kerrville Tivy and defeated the Lady Antlers, 3-0.

Boerne was coming off an 8-0 win over Wagner in their first foray in 5A league play and has now won their two district games by a combined score of 11-0.

The Lady Greyhounds are 7-2 overall and 2-0 in district. They are scheduled to host Veterans Memorial Wednesday, in a game moved from Tuesday because of the weather, and then visit Smithson Valley Friday before taking on Boerne Champion next Tuesday.

Bella Pettet, who tallied 3 goals vs. Wagner, added 2 more to her totals on Friday after she knocked in 2 of their 3 goals.

Mahaley Merkins assisted on one of them and Eliana Bove had the other assists.

Kerrville was in a generous mood, and just like in the boys match, gave up an own goal to help Boerne get its third goal of the night.
