Boerne High struggled with its outside shooting early in last Friday’s game with Smithson Valley but overcame the slow start to defeat the Lady Rangers in girls basketball, 60-36.

BHS is 8-4 in district and 17-11 overall. They visit Boerne Champion Wednesday and Alamo Heights Friday.

The Lady Hounds are currently tied with Kerrville Tivy for third place in the district with four games left.

BHS began the game 1 for 8 from the 3-point line and it allowed the Lady Rangers to hold a 3-point lead at the end of the first quarter at 17-14.

Boerne shot 19 percent from the 3-point line in the first half as the shots just weren’t falling like they normally do, but the Lady Hounds shot 47 percent from the 3-point line in the second half to right the ship.

BHS ended up outscoring the Lady Rangers over the last three quarters, 46-19.

Boerne went into halftime with a 31-22 lead and knocked down six 3s in the third quarter to open up a 55-26 advantage at the end of three.

Not only did the Lady Hounds heat up from the outside, but they turned up the defensive pressure and held Smithson Valley to 5 points in the second and 4 points in the third.

Meredith Mcleod led all scorers with 19 points, Savannah Salinas hit four 3s and finished with 12 points, Addison Saur scored 7 points, Chloe Donnell and J.T. Hernandez both netted 5, Jenna Ruede had 4, Oleyvia Ramos and Melia Gonzalez knocked down a 3 for 3 points each and Hartlee Menn added 2 points.
