BHS boys soccer district win streak extends to 48 straight

With Tuesday’s 3-1 victory at Wagner, the Boerne High boys soccer team extended their district win streak to 48 straight victories.

BHS starts 26- 5A action at 1-0 and is 3-1 overall. The Greyhounds were home Friday against Kerrville Tivy and are scheduled to visit Veterans Memorial Tuesday.

In Tuesday’s match, Felix Theiss scored a goal on the assist from Liam Griffiths.

Griffiths then scored on a John Paul Santa Maria assist and then Santa Maria assisted on the Austin Vecino goal.

It was 3-0 before the Thunderbirds were issued a penalty kick in the final minute that they converted for their only goal on Tuesday.

District win streak at 48 over six seasons

Boerne’s district-win streak started during the COVID season in 2020. The Greyhounds lost to Fredericksburg on Feb. 21, 2020, by a score of 2-0.

After that, Boerne won three in a row to close out the 2020 season before their rematch with the Billies was cancelled because of COVID.

Since that three-match win streak to close out 2020, the Greyhound swept every district opponent from 2021-24 and with Tuesday’s win, the streak is spread out over six years from 2020 to 2025.
