Comfort hoops squads in action

Both Comfort High varsity basketball teams were on the road Tuesday to face Llano in a doubleheader.

The results were mixed as the boys won by 20 points and the girls struggled and lost.

Comfort was home Friday to host Brady and both will be on the road Tuesday at Florence.

Varsity Boys

The Bobcats picked up their first district win on Tuesday after they defeated Llano, 61-41.

Comfort is 14-10 overall and 1-1 in district after outscoring the Yellowjackets in every quarter.

The Cats were up 13-7 at the end of one and then outscored Llano in the second, 15-9, for the 28-16 halftime lead.

Both teams picked up the pace in the third but Comfort still won the quarter after they tallied 24 points and Llano netted 18 points to give the Bobcats a 52-34 edge.

CHS then closed it out in the final stanza by winning it, 9-7.

Varsity Girls

The Deer had a rough night and tallied a season-low 10 points in Tuesday’s 42-10 loss to the Lady Yellowjackets.

Comfort slips to 7-13 overall and 1-3 in district. Friday’s game with Brady closed out the first round of league play for them.

The Deer were down 13-2 after one and then Llano outscored them in the second, 13-3, for the 26-5 halftime lead.

Comfort hit for 3 in the third and never scored more than 3 in a quarter. They added 2 points in the fourth, while Llano tallied 7 and 9 in the final two stanzas.

Amelia Robinson led Llano with 14 points.
