Boerne Champion had seven football players earn all-district awards in 13-5A DI after their performances during the 2024 season.
One of the players was recognized twice after sophomore quarterback Julian Navarrete was named the unanimous First-Team Offensive Newcomer and was the only Charger to receive a superlative award.
Navarrete was also named to the Second Team Offense as a quarterback.
Junior Brogan Dempsey was a First-Team Wide Receiver for the Chargers.
Dempsey and Navarrete were the only two Champion players selected to the first team.
Senior Jaxon Palomo was named to the Second Team Offensive Line and senior Andrew Stosberg was named a Second-Team Center.
Senior Nathan Bell was named a Second Team Kicker, and on the defensive side of the ball, senior Joshua Surber was named a Second Team Defensive End and senior Hudson Simmons was selected as a Second Team Safety.
The Chargers finished the season with a record of 5-5 and went 2-5 in a tough district. They started the year at 3-0 after they swept their non-district schedule.
Some of their highlights in league play included scoring 66 points against Seguin in a 73-66 loss in one of the highest scoring games ever played at Boerne ISD Stadium.
Another highlight was defeating Wagner, 31-26, in perhaps their best allaround performance this year to knock the Thunderbirds from playoff contention.
The big news out of 13-5A DI is that league opponent Smithson Valley won this year’s state championship to give Larry Hill his first title after more than 30 years as a coach.
