The Boerne Champion water polo program had 13 athletes earn all-district awards in both the girls and girls programs.

Boerne High was also in the district just started water polo this year and didn’t have any players pick up postseason awards.

For the Chargers, goalie Cayden VanDyne was named the Defensive Player of the Year, while Ana Metz and Cora Skoog were first-team all-district, Breanna Hempton landed on the second team and Victoria Adame was named honorable mention.

On the boys side, Bexon Harrison was named the District MVP, Will Harrison was voted the Offensive Player of the Year, Owen Altermatt and Julius Hoxhaj were both named to the first team, Aaron Mendoza was named to the second team and EJ Altermatt, Jackson Hankins and Baylor Slay were recognized as honorable mention.

The Champion boys ran the table in district and won the league title with a 10-0 record. They ended their season at the state water polo tournament for the third year in a row and earned bronze medals this year.

The Lady Chargers tied for first in the league standings and played Brandeis for seeding in a tiebreaker game. The Broncos won that match, but the Champion girls went on to win the region and played at the state tournament for the first time in program history and earned bronze medals.
