Boerne Champion picked up its first win of the 2025 girls soccer season Tuesday afternoon at Charger Field against Dripping Springs, 4-3.

The Lady Chargers and Lady Tigers were knotted up at 3-3 with time winding down but Champion was awarded a penalty kick after a tripping call in the box.

Jayme Harrell took the PK and it bounced off the Tigers goalie. Harrell then cleaned up the rebound and knocked it in for the go-ahead goal with 3:30 left that turned into the game winner.

Even though they’ve only been playing a week, Champion is already dealing with injuries, but head coach Alyse Zingelmann said they’ll make the best of the situation.

Freshman Maggie Hall tallied 2 goals for Champion on Tuesday, Grace Johnson had a goal and Harrell recorded the game winner.

Lily Alejo and Sydney Brumley both recorded single assists in the match.

The Lady Chargers improve to 1-3 this year and open district play Tuesday at home against Veterans Memorial. They are off this weekend.
