The Boerne High boys hosted Wagner in a district game Tuesday at Greyhound Gym and the Thunderbirds remained in the hunt for the district title after they defeated BHS, 54-44.
The Greyhounds are 15-8 overall and 2-5 in district, while Wagner and Alamo Heights are tied atop the 26-5A standings at 6-1.
Boerne closed out the first round Friday at Kerrville Tivy. The Greyhounds open the second round of league play Tuesday at home against Veterans Memorial.
BHS was sitting in seventh place in the district standings heading into Friday at 2-5. They’ll have to beat some teams they lost to in the first round to have a chance at a playoff spot.
AH and Wagner are tied for first at 6-1, NB is third at 5-4, followed by Boerne Champion, Pieper and Veterans Memorial at 4-3.
Boerne is 2-5, Smithson Valley is 1-6 and Kerrville Tivy is winless in the district at 0-7 heading into Friday.
