Comfort High has several football players earn District 13-3A DII postseason awards.
The Bobcats had one player, Omar Rivera, earn a superlative, while seven others were named either first or second team on offense and/ or defense.
One of those athletes, E.J. Hernandez, was a first-team lineman on both offense and defense.
Another eight Comfort players, some already on the first or second teams, earned honorable mention status in different positions since many 3A players play on both sides of the ball.
Sophomore Omar Rivera earned a superlative award and was named the Utility Player of the Year after he played quarterback, cornerback and was the kicker.
First team offensive selections were senior linemen E.J. Hernandez and junior running back Topper Sterling.
Hernandez was also a firstteam defensive lineman and senior Gio Lopez was a firstteam outside linebacker.
Second-team offensive selections for the Bobcats include junior quarterback Carter Pape and junior running back Hunter Ledlow.
Second-team defensive picks were junior defensive lineman Alexis Padilla and sophomore linebacker Gabriel Gonzales.
There were several more Bobcats who were selected as honorable mention.
Sophomore running back Jared Valadez, senior running back Gio Lopez, junior tight end Damian Neri, sophomore offensive lineman Aiden Weyel, senior defensive lineman Diego Lozano, senior linebacker Judd Lozano and Hunter Ledlow were all picked as HM, while Valadez was also an honorable mention defensive back.
Comfort was in a very tough district in 13-3A DII and went 0-4 in league action. The Bobcats were 2-7 overall and only played nine games this year after their season opener at Brackett was called because of lightening.
One of the team in the district, Lexington, went four rounds deep in 2024.
