The Geneva School of Boerne boys basketball team stayed undefeated in district play after the Eagles traveled to Corpus Christi and defeated the Angels of Incarnate Word, 56-40.
Geneva improves to 5-0 in district and is 23-4 overall. They are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest TAPPS 4A state basketball poll.
The Eagles were off Friday and host Castle Hills on Tuesday as part of a doubleheader with the girls team.
Geneva coach Julius McNeal said they had a slow start and added that it’s something they can’t afford to do. The Eagles were trailing 14-7 at the end of the first quarter before outscoring the Angels over the final three stanzas, 49-26, to get the win.
“We have to realize that when you’re undefeated in district play that we’re going to get everyone’s A game, it’s something I’m trying to help the guys realize,” he said. “Hopefully, we’ll move forward knowing that.”
Jake Roberson led the Eagles with 21 points, Wyatt Bruss added 18 and Colton Lutz recorded his fourth double- double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
