The Boerne High boys soccer team made the long drive to the Dallas- Fort Worth area to open the 2025 season and play in the North Texas Elite Showcase.
In its first foray into 5A, the Greyhounds posted a 2-1 record at the event.
BHS starts the year at 2-1 and is off this week. The Greyhounds won’t return to action until Jan. 14 when they visit Wagner to open district play. After that, they’ll continue league action against Kerrville Tivy at home on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.
At the tourney, the Greyhounds defeated Timber Creek, 4-1, and also picked up a win over North Mesquite, 3-2.
The victory over North Mesquite came on penalty kicks. It was tied at 2-2 and then the Hounds won it on PKs.
In its final match, the Boerne boys fell to Central Catholic, 2-1, after CC scored with 6 minutes left.
BHS received a second yellow card that was rescinded by the official after the match.
Coach Michael Strong said the hosts didn’t name an all-tournament team.
