The Lady Chargers were entered in the Humble ISD Showcase near the Houston area and played three matches.
Champion dropped all three contests to start the year at 0-3. They hosted Dripping Springs Tuesday and then open district play on Jan. 14 against Veterans Memorial.
At the tourney, the Lady Chargers were crowed by Kingwood, 3-0 and then lost to Summer Creek, 7-0.
Champion also tangled with Port-Neches Grove and played the Lady Indians close, but lost 3-2.
Champion boys
The Chargers opened the 2025 season at home last Friday against Harlandale.
The Indians edged Champion, 3-2, behind three goals from Jared Garcia.
The Chargers had the early lead at 1-0 after the Kai Eitter goal but the Indians scored the next two for the 2-1 advantage.
Champion’s Noah Umbreit tied it at 2-2 in the 62nd minute but Garcia knocked in the go-ahead goal three minutes later and that’s where it stayed until the end.
The Chargers start the year off at 0-1 and were scheduled to play Madison on Tuesday on the road.
