Both Boerne ISD boys basketball teams were on the road for district games Tuesday to close out 2024 with games on New Year’s Eve.
Champion was at Wagner, while the Boerne High boys visited Pieper and it was mixed results after the Greyhounds defeated the Warriors and the Charger boys fell to the Thunderbirds.
Boerne Champion
The Boerne Champion hoops team dropped its second district game in a row after they were defeated by Wagner Tuesday.
The Thunderbirds handed the Chargers a 72-56 setback at Wagner and drops the Champion boys to 2-3 in district and 19-5 overall.
The Chargers were home Friday against Kerrville Tivy and then host Veterans Memorial Tuesday.
Baeden Burdick shot it well and paced Champion with 27 points, Logan Scott added 8 points, Alex Ross scored 7, Kristian Herrera netted 6, Gavin Peck, Marcus Matos and Noa Basco all finished with 2 points apiece.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds picked up a much-needed district win at Pieper.
Tuesday’s 45-42 road victory by the Greyhounds helps them stay afloat in the district race.
BHS is 2-3 in 26-5A and is tied with Champion, although the Chargers defeated them in the first round. The two BISD schools face each other later this month at Boerne High.
The Greyhounds are 15-6 overall and hosted New Braunfels Friday. The Unicorns were 3-3 entering the game.
Boerne hosts Wagner Tuesday and visits Kerrville Tivy next Friday to close out the first round.
