Boerne High’s Hutson Hendrix wrapped up an incredible football career after the team was defeated in the 5A DII state semifinals in December.
The senior and University of Arkansas commit finishes as the school’s all- time leading tackler and also set a school record for most tackles in a season in 2024.
For his Greyhound career, Hendrix recorded 521 tackles, including 60 tackles for a loss, to go with 9 sacks, 7 interceptions, 6 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumbles returned for a touchdown, 1 interception returned for a touchdown, 1 blocked punt and 1 blocked field goal.
Just in 2024, Hendrix recorded 175 tackles for a new single season record by a Greyhound. The 175 included 17 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, 2 recovered fumbles and 1 forced fumble.
Hendrix also played a little offense and in four years on the varsity recorded 20 rushing and 8 receiving touchdowns. He had 11 rushing and 5 receiving TDs this year.
The Greyhounds won two regional titles in the last three years. After winning the regional title in 2022, Boerne advanced to the 4A DI title game, and in 2024, BHS won the Region IV-5A DII championship game before they were defeated in the state semifinals.
The high school football season only consists of 10- regular season games, and in four years, Hendrix played an extra 16 playoff games, basically a whole other season.
Eleven of those 16 postseason games came during their deep playoff runs in 2022 and 2024.
