The Boerne Champion boys hoops team picked up four wins last weekend at the Boerne ISD Holiday Tournament.
With the four wins, Champion improved to 19-4 overall and resumed district play Tuesday at Wagner. The Chargers were 2-2 in 26-5A action entering Tuesday. They’ll host Kerrville Tivy Friday.
Champion earned a pair of wins on both days of the tourney held last Friday and Saturday at three different locations.
All the Chargers boys and girls games were on the school campus and Champion opened the event with a 63-54 win over Eagle Pass.
Later in the day, the Chargers contained the Cowboys from McCollum, 39-32.
Champion returned to action on Saturday and closed out the event with a pair of wins against teams with Pirate mascots.
The Chargers beat Sinton, 66-44 and later in the day defeated Lytle, 76-33.
Against Sinton, Noa Basco couldn’t miss. He hit five straight 3s for the Chargers in the first half and forced the Sinton coach to call a timeout.
Basco tallied 19 points by halftime and added four points in the second half to lead all scorers with 24 points.
