A LOOK BACK AT SPORTS IN COMING THIS WEEKEND

SPORTS YEAR IN REVIEW

A look back at sports in 2024 coming this weekend

There were plenty of sports news that came out of Kendall County in 2024 and some of it went beyond the county and made national and even international news. For a look back at sports in Kendall Country in 2024, be sure to look in this weekend’s Boerne Star.

The Boerne Little League team played in the World Series and finished second in the nation and fourth in the world. They had a welcome home parade that drew 5,000 fans and a video of it on the Boerne Star’s twitter page drew half a million views.

Boerne resident Jason Tabansky earned a gold medal at last summer’s Paris Paralympic Games in archery. After winning gold, Tabansky received a hero’s welcome with a ceremony at Veteran’s Plaza.

Boerne Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman made national news by running in the U.S. Olympic Trials last summer. She also won individual state championships in UIL cross country and track and also claimed a few national races, including defending her Foot Locker national championship.
