Swarek lone candidate for Fair Oaks Ranch council seat

Fair Oaks Ranch will cancel its February 2025 election after only one candidate filed to run for an open City Council seat.

Fair Oaks Ranch resident Jonathan Swarek is the councilman- to-be once candidacy filing ended Dec. 26. He was the lone applicant as successor to Chesley Muenchow, who resigned from the council place 6 seat in early November.

Council ordered a special election for Feb. 25, 2025, following Muenchow’s departure. Council will cancel the election at its Jan. 16 meeting and councilman-elect Swarek will assume office March 6.

Muenchow, first elected to her Place 6 post in May 2021, was re-elected with no opposition in May 2023, when the length of terms expanded from two years to three.

The city’s regularly scheduled election falls on May 3, the first Saturday of the month.
