Library gearing up for new year programs

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. We thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic fun and decorations through December here in the youth department.

Some of our successful Christmas programs this season included Festival of Trees and Pictures with Santa, Elf-on-the-Shelf I Spy, a Stuffie Sleepover, and a Santa Letter drawing. In total, we received around 150 letters to Santa.

We want to give a big thank you to all those who participated in these delightful events and congratulations again to our Santa Letter drawing winner. Now, on to 2025.

No youth programs through Jan. 10

During the busy holiday season, the youth department will take a little break from our weekly programs. We will resume Storytimes and other regular programs on Jan. 14 with Rhyme & Shine: Baby Storytime.

Don’t worry, we still have some fun special programs planned for your children during the break.

Winter reading Challenge

If you haven’t yet, don’t forget to stop by the youth department for your “Winter Reading Challenge” sheet. Follow the directions and color in each snowflake by reading 20 minutes a day. Turn your challenge sheet back in on Fridays by 5 p.m. to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.

We will have two more drawings and chances for your child to win — the upcoming turn-in dates being Jan. 3 and Jan. 10.

PAW-Palooza with Boerne Animal Care

Join us at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 for PAWPalooza in the library’s community room. Come along for a Storytime followed by crafting, a critter cornhole game and tasty refreshments.

For this event, we are partnering with Boerne Animal Care Services, so get ready to see some friendly furry faces.

Perky penguin party On Saturday, Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. meet Ms. Constance at the Herff Farmers Market Farmhouse for a Penguin Party.

The party will include a penguin-themed storytime in addition to some terrific tunes that will have your toes tapping. After stories and music, get ready to make a cute craft and eat some tasty treats.

Chinese New Year Celebration Jan. 25

Mark your calendars — at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, the Patrick Heath Public Library invites you to a spectacular celebration of culture and tradition as we ring in the Chinese New Year with a vibrant performance by the Chinese Culture Performance Association of San Antonio.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of this centuries- old festival as talented dancers, adorned in dazzling, hand-crafted silk costumes, bring traditional Chinese dances to life. Don’t miss this chance to celebrate the Year of the Snake and discover the beauty of Chinese culture right here in our community.
