The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team hosted S.A. Incarnate Word last Thursday in Boerne and smashed the Shamrocks, 80-25.
Geneva bumps its record to 14-3 overall and is off for more than a week. They don’t return to action until Dec. 30-31 when they help to co-host the Hill Country Classic Holiday Tournament on the Geneva campus.
In last Thursday’s game, the Eagles were leading 19-3 at the end of one quarter and then outscored Incarnate Word in the second, 20-11, for the 39-14 halftime score.
Geneva didn’t let up in the third and tallied 27 points and won the quarter, 27-9, to open up a 66-23 advantage.
The Eagles closed it out by taking the final stanza over the Shamrocks, 14-2.
Maegan Riebel, who recently had 70 points in a two-game stretch, led all scorers with 24 points and was 9 for 11 from 2-point range.
Kyra Petty added 17 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double, while Morgan Howard finished with 15 points.
Payton Boles chipped in with 7 points, Madeline Egbert netted 6, Grace Detterick and Sopris Oglesby both scored 4 and Reese Smith had 3 points.
Detterick grabbed 8 rebounds, Petty dished out 6 assists, while Riebel added 6 steals, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a block to her totals.
