Bobcats handle Longhorns, 64-40

The Comfort Bobcats hosted the Harper Longhorns Tuesday and came away with a convincing 64-40 victory.

With the win, the Cats improved to 10-5 on the season. They hosted Bracken Christian Thursday afternoon before taking about a week off and returning to action Dec. 27-28 at the Johnson City Tournament.

Comfort took command right away and was leading 22-7 when the first-quarter buzzer sounded.

The teams were even in the second with 12 points apiece to give the Cats a 34-19 lead at intermission.

When the third quarter started, the Comfort boys went back to work and doubled up the Longhorns, 22-11, for the 56-30 advantage.

It ended with Harper winning the final stanza, 10-8, and with a 24-point win by the Bobcats.

Comfort had four in double figures after Jaydin Steward finished with 16 points, Jackson Dear tallied 11 and Jared Valadez and Omar Rivera both netted 10.

Alex Padilla chipped in with 8 and Jovani Zapata scored 5, while Chris Kessov and Trent Berny both had 2 points.

Steward grabbed 12 rebounds to make it a double- double and he also came up with 5 assists and 5 steals, while Zapata tallied 7 assists.
