The Comfort Deer hosted the Gloria Deo Academy Lions Tuesday and fought hard before falling 44-33.
With the loss the Deer slip to 5-7 overall. They’ll compete in the Medina Tournament this weekend and started with a 9 a.m. game against Junction on Thursday.
Gloria Deo was up 13-8 at the end of one quarter and then took a 29-20 lead into halftime after they outscored the Deer in the second stanza, 16-12.
Comfort outscored the Lions in the third period, 12-8, and the lead was down to 37-32, but the Deer faltered in the fourth quarter and only scored 1 point, while Gloria Deo dropped in 7 to wrap up the win.
Jaelyn Ruelas continued her hot streak and scored a team-high 12 points. Alexa Lozano tallied 7 points, Tindall Ahrens had 6 points along with a team-high 11 rebounds and a team-high 6 steals, while Jael Hernandez netted 6 points and Molly Gowan added 2. Hernandez also dished out a team-high 6 assists.
