Dogs snap Comfort’s 6-game win streak

Comfort High played at Marion in a boys basketball game Tuesday and the Bulldogs took a nip out of the Bobcats, 75-57.

Tuesday’s loss snaps Comfort’s six-game win streak and leaves the Bobcats at 7-3 overall.

Comfort hosts a 16-team tournament this weekend and opened on Thursday with Poteet. The winner of that games played the winner of Thrall and Uvalde on Friday.

The ’Cats and ’Dogs were tied at the end of the first quarter at 17-17, but Marion outscored CHS in the second, 23-16, to take a 40-33 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs also won the third ( 20- 14) and fourth (15-10) quarters for the 18-point victory.

Marion shot it well in the game and finished at 58 percent from the field and also went 9 for 18 from the 3-pointer line.

Jovani Zapata paced the Bobcats with 18 points, Alex Padilla added 13 and Jaydin Steward finished with 12 as three Bobcats were in double figures.

Jackson Dear was a free throw away from double digits after he tallied 9, Mark Hernandez scored 3 and Omar Rivera added 2.

Steward and Dear both grabbed 5 rebounds, Zapata recorded 5 assists and came up with 3 steals.

Travis Randle netted 24, Braeden Fleming dropped in 20 and Jaiden Riley had 19 to pace Marion with a combined 63 points.
