Geneva orchestra students take part in Honor auditions

BOERNE — Geneva School of Boerne orchestra members recently participated in the Texas Region 29 Honor Orchestra auditions. Region 29 is comprised of schools from San Antonio Northside, Boerne, Kerrville, Del Rio, Judson and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City independent school districts.

Geneva senior Kayla Strizu was selected to perform with the High School Symphony Orchestra in December. Three Geneva seventh graders were also selected: Henry Richardson, to perform violin with the Middle School Symphony Orchestra; Ella Harrild, to play viola with the Middle School String Orchestra; and Luke Abuzeid, who competed against 17 other bass players was selected for first chair bass in the Middle School String Orchestra.

Geneva band members also participated in the Honor Band auditions. Senior Will Crews was selected to play piano in the Second Jazz Band, and eighth grader Mark Luffy was selected for first chair baritone saxophone in the Top Jazz Band this spring.

Logic School band students also auditioned for the South Texas Honor Band. Seventh grader Maya Simpson was selected to play alto saxophone in the Concert Band, and eighth grader Mark Luffy was selected to play first chair tenor saxophone with the Symphonic Band.

Geneva senior Kayla Strizu was selected to perform with the High School Symphony Orchestra.
