With Boerne High’s victory over Victoria West last week, Greyhounds football coach Che Hendrix reached the 100-win plateau.

Hendrix is in his seventh season with Boerne High and has recorded 70 of those wins with the Greyhounds. Ironically, Hendrix’s 100th win came this year when Boerne High is celebrating 100 years of Greyhound football.

“It’s cool to get 100 in the 100th year,” he said. “It’s kind of magical how those things work out.”

Hendrix said when he ponders 100 wins the first thing that comes to mind is the relationships he’s built over the years.

“I reflect of all the great players I’ve had, the relationships and the coaching staffs, that’s what I think about,” he said. “I have such cool relationships with my former players and you can’t do this without them.”

With only 10 guaranteed games in a season at the high school level, to average 10 wins a season is impressive.

Prior to coming to Boerne, Hendrix coached at Frisco Wakeland where he posted a record of 30-43.

Hendrix is 70-19 at Boerne High for a combined record of 100-62, not counting what happened in Friday’s game with Corpus Christi Miller.

BHS has reeled off 35 of those wins in the last three seasons with 15 of those coming in 2022 when they finished 15-1 and played for the state championship.

They’ve reached the 10-win plateau this year and last and stand at 35-6 in the last three seasons.

Boerne has played on Thanksgiving weekend five times in seven years under Hendrix and has played into December two times, once in 2022 and this year.

After reaching 100 wins, Hendrix said he was ready for the next step.

“ It’s humbling and exciting,” he said, “let’s go get 101.”
