Lady Hounds pick up first district victory

Boerne High picked up its first district win in girls basketball after the Lady Greyhounds defeated Veterans Memorial Tuesday in Boerne.

The Lady Hounds won the game, 68-20, and stand at 6-6 overall and 1-2 in district.

BHS plays in the Georgetown tournament this weekend played Glenn and Hanks on the first day. They resume district play Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Smithson Valley.

Boerne took control early against Veterans Memorial and was leading 20-4 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored the Patriots 13-6 in the second and held a 33-10 lead at the break.

After scoring 10 points in the first half, Veterans Memorial only managed 10 points over the final two quarters.

BHS dropped in 17 in the third and closed it out with 18 in the fourth as Coach Ruede was moving players in and out.

Meredith Mcleod outscored the Lady Patriots by herself after she tallied 21 points, Oleyvia Ramos finished with 9 points, Hartlee Menn scored 8, Savannah Salinas finished with 7, Jenna Ruede and Melia Gonzalez tallied 6 each, Chloe Donnell and Addison Saur both dropped in 5 points and JT Hernandez hit for 4 points.
