A total of 12 Boerne ISD athletes were named to one of the District 26-5A All-District volleyball teams as voted upon the league coaches.

Boerne Champion had 7 land on the list, while Boerne High had 5 players make it.

The Chargers had two earn superlative awards after senior Ella Coleman was named Most Valuable Hitter in 26-5A and senior Azteca Crawford was voted Most Valuable Setter.

Charger sophomore Brielle Boothe and senior Briley Wolff were both named to the first team, junior Taylor Fenton and senior Samantha Calderon landed on the second team, while junior Cassidy Breuer was named honorable mention.

For the Greyhounds, junior Haley Wheeler and junior Kaylie Bourn both made the second team, while sophomore Lauren Magnus, senior Calynn Ramos and senior Ava Rocchio were listed as honorable mention selections.

The Chargers and Greyhounds were in the same district and played each other for the first time this season. Champion won both matches, but the Lady Hounds were able to take a set off the Chargers in each match.

Boerne finished the season at 22-14 overall and 7-9 in district and missed the postseason after they were sixth in a nine-team league. Only the top four advance to the playoffs.

The Lady Greyhounds closed out the regular season with an impressive victory over playoff-bound New Braunfels in five sets at home in what BHS coach Staci Lawrence called their best match of the season.

Boerne’s win over New Braunfels helped the Chargers finish second in the district, one game ahead of the Unicorns.

Champion finished the season at 34-8 and was 13-3 in 26-5A and had the misfortune of drawing Cedar Park in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Timberwolves defeated the Chargers and went on to win the region and played at the state tournament where they finished second in the state in the 5A-DII bracket.
