SEGUIN - Boerne High defeated Victoria West in their third-round playoff game Friday in Seguin, 59-15.
BHS is 10-3 and plays Corpus Christi Miller Friday in the fourth round, likely in the Alamodome at 7 p.m. Miller beat previously unbeaten Alamo Heights Friday in the Dome, 38-28.
In Seguin, the Greyhounds tallied three touchdowns in the opening quarter, one rushing TD from Hutson Hendrix and two passing from Hank Hendrix to Brooks Perez and Ben Bays in the first stanza for the 21-3 lead.
Hutson Hendrix then ran for two more TDs in the second and blocked a punt right before halftime to set up a field goal by Diego Jimenez and give BHS a 38-9 lead by the break.
Hutson Hendrix scored once more in the second half for his fourth rushing touchdown of the night.
Ivan Perez closed it out with two more rushing TDs in the final period for the final margin of 59-15.
Boerne's ground-control offense only let Victoria West have the ball for 1:03 in the second quarter as they ran 26 plays in the stanza. Victoria West returned a fumble for a score in the second to account for their only points of the stanza.
Ty Bush intercepted a pass in the second to set up a Boerne score, while Jake Perez also picked off a pass in the third quarter.
Hendrix's 100th
Boerne's win also gave coach Che Hendrix his 100th career win. Ironically, it comes in the 100th year of Boerne football.
