THE BOOKWORM

‘The Memory Lab: Maker Space of Memories’

In October 2024, the Patrick Heath Public Library unveiled its Memory Lab: The Maker Space of Memories. Since then, I have met with so many of you to discuss your family histories and plans to digitize them.

One of the things that the Memory Lab has to offer is digitization equipment: photo scanners, VHS and CD conversion and even 8mm film to SD card adapters.

The Memory Lab is free for everyone, all you need to bring is your SD or USB cards, your precious family memorabilia, and patience because digitizing can take a long time.

Harvesting history in the Hill Country

Is your family deeply connected to Boerne or Kendall County? Then the Dietert Community Archives is looking for your family histories to add to the collection.

We are beginning our major oral history project at the start of next year, where we interview local members of our community about their families and lives in the Hill Country.

The Dietert Community Archives isn’t just for the long-term Boerne families; we have plenty of other historical materials to research and observe in our archive reading room, located on the second floor of the library, inside the Memory Lab. It is perfect for researching founding families as well as looking at maps and photographs of Kendall County.

If you have something that you would like to research or have history that you would like to have recorded in our archives, call me at 830249-3053 x.1467, or email me, at: shabeeb@boernelibrary. org.
