The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team finished as the Silver bracket champions at last weekend’s Cornerstone Christian tournament.
Geneva went 3-1 at the event and is 7-1 overall going into Thanksgiving weekend. The team plays again Dec. 3, when they host Harper.
Geneva opened the tourney with a 59-47 victory over 6A Dripping Springs.
Up next, the Eagles suffered their only loss of the tourney with a 63-57 setback to Bastrop. Not only was it their first setback of the tourney but it was also their first loss of the season.
Geneva returned on Friday and defeated Edgewood, from Edgewood, Texas, 63-30. The Eagles started the game with a 23-0 lead and never looked back.
That win advanced Geneva to the championship game of the Silver Bracket where they faced and beat Incarnate Word, 59-41.
“They showed heart and hustle every step of the way,” head coach Aamir Mccleary said. “I’m so proud of these girls.”
