BOERNE — Since 2019, SEnergy seeks volunteers to help Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 with its Wreaths of Honor (formerly Resting Place Wreaths) program, a cherished annual event in Boerne that honors more than 800 veterans laid to rest in the Boerne Cemetery by placing wreaths at their headstones.
Each wreath symbolizes enduring respect and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these heroes. Wreaths of Honor provides an opportunity for families to volunteer together during the holiday season and for students to earn community service hours.
The success of Wreaths of Honor relies on community involvement. The events and dates are: Buy a Bow. Throughout November, visit 28 Songs Brewhouse and Kitchen. For just $2 added to your check, you can purchase a bow for a veteran wreath. As a token of appreciation, you will receive a commemorative card with the details of the veteran you are honoring.
Replacing Bows. At 10 a.m. Nov. 30, head to 28 Songs to help remove old bows from the wreaths and replace them with new ones.
Laying Wreaths. At 10 a.m. Dec. 7, join in at the Boerne Cemetery, 820 N. School St., as wreaths are laid at the headstones of these fallen heroes.
Picking up Wreaths. Meet at the Boerne Cemetery pavilion at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 to help pick up the wreaths that were placed on the headstones.
This event wouldn’t be possible without event partner, 28 Songs Brewhouse and Kitchen, and generous sponsors, including UPS Leon Springs, Manifestive Design, Bunker Branding, Stephen Rose Photography and Black Rifle Coffee Co.
