The Boerne softball team had a busy weekend and played three games as the coach and one of the players both reached personal milestones.
On Friday, the Lady Hounds defeated Davenport in a district game, 13-0, and then on Saturday, BHS played non-district games against Georgetown and Dripping Springs.
The Greyhounds lost to Georgetown by a run, 5-4, and beat Drip, 6-4. Boerne is 21-5 overall and 7-0 in district. BHS plays at Canyon Lake Tuesday and hosts Fredericksburg on Thursday.
Friday’s win over Davenport gave coach Chester Pettibon the 100th victory of his career and he’s done it in less than four full seasons.
Also in Friday’s game, Reese Wilson drove in the 100th RBI of her career and hit a 2-run shot in the first inning to help BHS jump out to a 6-0 lead.
The Lady Hounds added 3 in the third and 4 in the fourth to get its 13 runs.
Ava Nieto also hit a homer, while Taryn Madlock, Heidi Maytum and Ava Rodriguez all doubled.
Madi Dorrow picked up the win on 75 pitches and only gave up 1 hit while striking out 7 and walking 3.
Vs. Georgetown
Boerne was winning 4-1 but gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh as Georgetown rallied for the 5-4 win.
Ava Nieto and Ava Rodriguez both doubled with Nieto adding a single, while Cameron Cooper and Brooke Sivek both singled.
Rodriguez went 6.1 innings and gave up 10 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 1 and fanned 2.
Vs. Dripping Springs
BHS was trailing 4-0 but scored all 6 of its runs in the top of the sixth to pull out the 6-4 win.
In the sixth, the Lady Hounds used 2 errors, 2 doubles and 3 singles to get its 6 runs.
Boerne finished with 7 hits, including doubles from Brooke Sivek, Reese Wilson and Taylor Wilson. Sivek and Reese Wilson both added singles.
Isa Renteria started in the circle and gave up 9 hits, only 1 earned run to go with 4 strikeouts and no walks.
