After taking nine days off, the Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team was back on the court last Friday and made the drive to Austin to take on St. Michael’s.

The Lady Eagles didn’t show any rust after their time off and went on to defeat the Austin school, 56-44.

Geneva is 3-0 overall and hosted Veterans Memorial Tuesday and then play in the Cornerstone Tournament this weekend and opens with Dripping Springs and Bastrop on the first day.

In last Friday’s game, Maegan Riebel paced the Eagles with 21 points, while Morgan Howard was also in double digits with 11 points.

Grace Detterick just missed out on double figures and tallied 9 point, Madeline Egbert scored 8 and Kyra Petty netted 7 as five of their players scored all 56 of their points.

The Eagles were good at the foul line and made 10 of 14 foul shots for 71 percent. Geneva was also good on the boards and had two players – Petty and Howard – snag 10 rebounds each, while Detterick grabbed 9 boards and Riebel collected 7 rebounds.

Petty and Riebel also finished with 4 assists and 2 steals apiece.
