Boerne Champion is still undefeated in boys basketball after the Chargers won all four games played at the Harlandale ISD Tournament last weekend.
Champion improves to 6-0 overall and defeated district foe Pieper for the tourney title last Saturday afternoon on the southside of San Antonio by four points.
Senior Baeden Burdick was named the tournament MVP, while freshman Gavin Peck made the all-tournament team.
This is the second time in three seasons that Champion has won the Harlandale tourney. Chris Adamek used to coach at Harlandale for more than a decade and said he loves going back to play there.
Champion was on the road Tuesday and visited Churchill in a battle of Charger teams. After that, Champion is off for a week and doesn’t play again until they host Somerset on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1 p.m. during Thanksgiving week.
Champion opened the tourney last Thursday with a 57-47 victory over Somerset. Up next on Friday, the Chargers faced East Central and stung the Hornets, 71-63, to advance to the tourney semifinals on Saturday.
In the semis, the Chargers beat the Bulldogs of Laredo Alexander, 55-48, on Saturday morning to advance to the championship game later that day against Pieper.
On Saturday afternoon, the Chargers held off the Warriors for the tourney title, 62-58.
