Man gets 45 years for physically, sexually abusing two children

A 46-year-old Boerne man is looking at 45 years in prison after his conviction in a Kendall County court on charges he sexually abused a girl and physically assaulted a boy.

According to prosecutors, the defendant — in addition to the sexual abuse — made a 9-year-old girl watch “inappropriate” videos and daily spanked a 10-year-old boy, as well punched him in the stomach.

Christopher Sink, 46, pleaded guilty Nov. 8 to aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and injury to a child, a third-degree felony, for the 2020 abuse of the two youngsters, prosecutors said.

Judge Kirsten Cohoon of the 451st state District Court presided over the case.

“Justice will come to those who harm children, no matter how much time has passed,” said Assistant Criminal District Attorney Andrew Fields.

In March 2020, Sink, then 41, moved to Boerne. According to court records, over the next year Sink began sexually abusing the then- 7-year-old girl and physically abusing the boy, who was 8 at the time.

After January 2021, Sink’s proximity to the children changed and they became more comfortable speaking about the encounters, investigators said. In June 2023, the girl informed a relative Sink had “touched” her, according to prosecutors. The relative reported the abuse to a counselor, who contacted Child Protective Services, law enforcement said.

Later that month, CPS notified the Boerne Police Department the 9-year-old female made an outcry of sexual abuse and the 10-year-old boy was talking to authorities about instances of physical abuse.

The incident initially was reported to the Kerrville Police Department.

In addition to Fields, the court case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorney Alessandra Deike. Assisting were Billy Hunt, an investigator for the Kendall County District Attorney’s Office; Kristal Reser, crime-analyst investigator, and Liz Jimenez, victim-assistance coordinator.

The 9-year-old female victim told authorities that being near Sink “was not good, a bad situation.” When prompted by the interviewer, the victim said Sink would make her watch “inappropriate stuff on the computer,” a grooming tactic often used by sex offenders, according to prosecutors.

This would then lead to sexual abuse, investigators said.

The boy told authorities Sink would spank him daily, leaving bruises. He also told investigators Sink would strike him in the stomach. The victim informed interviewers he was “trying to protect” some people he knew.

Cohoon handed Sink 35 years on the aggravated sexual assault of a child and 10 years for the injury to a child charges.

“We thank the victims in this case for having the extraordinary courage and strength to come forward,” Fields said. “We also want to thank Detective Amy Taylor from (the) Boerne Police Department and the staff at the Kids Advocacy Place in Kerrville for their extensive work on this case.”
