The Warren boys basketball team had a fast start to Tuesday’s non-district game at Charger Gym but the Boerne Champion boys had a better finish.
Warren was up after one quarter, 17-11, but the Chargers outscored the Warriors over the final three stanzas and went on to post the 60-49 win.
Champion is off to a 2-0 start in the young season and played in the Harlandale tourney this weekend.
In the second quarter of Tuesday’s game, the Chargers outscored the Warriors, 18-7, and had flipped the scoreboard in their favor, 29-24.
Champion held the Warriors to single digits again in the third with 9 points, while they tallied 17 and opened up a 46-33 advantage.
The Chargers lead held at double digits for most of the fourth quarter. Warren started fouling but the Chargers were up for the task.
Champion went to the line 16 times and made 10 foul shots on their way to 14 points in the quarter.
Baeden Burdick led the team with 19 points and was 4 for 6 at the line in the fourth quarter. Gavin Peck hit three 3s in the game and finished with 15 points, Kristian Herrera tallied 12 points and went to the line 8 times in the fourth and made 4, Logan Scott added 7 points, Noa Basco nailed a 3 in the second quarter, while Kane Lonsdale and Alex Ross both netted 2.
