The TMI – Episcopal softball team took an early lead over Geneva School of Boerne in the top of the first with three runs, but it was all Geneva after that.

The Eagles answered with 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning and never trailed from that point on.

Geneva went on to score in every inning it batted and posted a 17-5 win to improve to 4-6. The Eagles aren’t scheduled to play again until April 18.

Geneva was leading 4-3 after one and then both teams scored a single run in the second to give the Eagles the 5-4 lead, but from there, Geneva blew it open with a 9-run third frame for the 14-4 lead.

The Eagles used 7 singles and a 2-run inside-the-park homer from Mia Cohoon to get its 9 runs.

TMI plated a run in the top of the fourth to make it 14-5, but the Eagles responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth and pulled ahead, 17-5.

After the Panthers didn’t score in the top of the fifth, the mercy rule kicked in.

Cohoon finished with 2 RBI on her homer, Alexa Elizondo recorded 3 hits and scored 4 runs, Kate Friesenhahn hit 3 singles and drove in 2 runs, Maegan Riebel knocked out 2 singles, KK Chisholm finished with 3 singles and 3 runs scored and Abby Brehmer doubled and singled.

Avery Myrick picked up the win on 104 pitches, gave up 9 hits, 2 earned runs, fanned 3 and walked 4 batters.
