WACO – The Geneva School of Boerne volleyball team swept Brazos Christian in the TAPPS 4A state semifinals Friday in Waco.
Geneva won 25- 21, 25-23, 26-24, to advance to the championship match Saturday morning against Lubbock Christian School.

Game 1 In Thursday’s state semifinals match contained several runs by both teams.
Brazos Christian had the first run of the set at 4- 0 for the quick 6- 2 lead, but Geneva answered with a 5-0 run later in the set and it was tied at 10-10.
With Geneva trailing 14-15, the Eagles went on a 7-0 spurt and pulled ahead 21-15, but Brazos Christian answered with 4-0 run and it was 21-19, forcing a Geneva timeout.
It worked and the Eagles came up with the first point after the break and pulled ahead 22-19. They closed it out at 25-21.
Geneva led for most of the second set, although Brazos Christian tied it at 10-10 and 12-12, however the Eagles never let go of the lead.
Brazos Christian pulled to within a point of Geneva twice late in the game, the last time at 24-23, but the Eagles close it out at 25-24.
In the third set, Geneva raced out to a 17-10 lead but Brazos Christian clawed its way back into it with a 5-0 spurt and it was 17-15, forcing a timeout from Geneva coach Tami Owens.
Geneva opened up a 6- point lead at 22- 16 but a 5-0 run by Brazos Christian made it 22-21. Brazos Christian tied it at 22-22 and even held a 24-23 edge, but Geneva knotted it up at 24-24 and then closed it out with the final two points for the sweep.
