The Geneva School of Boerne volleyball team was on the brink of elimination in last Saturday’s regional championship match in San Marcos, but fought off Austin Hill Country Christian School.
The Eagles were down 2-1 in match play and were trailing 24-20 in the fourth set and were just one point away from having their season end, but fought back to win that fourth game 28-26 to even it up at 2-2.
Once it went to the fifth set, it was all Geneva as the Eagles went on to close it out, 15-7.
Geneva claims the 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 28-26, 15-7 victory and advances to the TAPPS state tournament in Waco. The Eagles play Friday against Brazos Christian School – Bryan in the state semifinals, 1 p.m. A win there and they’ll play for the state championship on Saturday.
Geneva last played at the state tournament in 2019 when they lost in the championship match to Lubbock Trinity Christian.
