The Boerne ISD varsity girls basketball teams continued their season last weekend with non-district games.
The Boerne High girls played in just one contest against Churchill at home, while the Lady Chargers were entered in their first tournament of the season.
Both continue action this week with several games.
Boerne High
The Boerne High girls slipped to 1-2 this year with a loss to Churchill last Friday night at home, 47-36.
The Lady Greyhounds tangled with Warren Tuesday night on the road and then are entered in the SAISD tournament this coming weekend.
Boerne Champion
The Lady Chargers were entered in the Rouse Tournament last weekend and finished in second place after they went 4-1 in the tourney and is 6-1 overall.
Hailey Winn and Taylor Burk were named to the all-tournament team.
Champion was at St. Mary’s Hall Tuesday and is off Friday before playing at Medina Valley next Tuesday.
At the tournament, the Lady Chargers won their first four games before falling in the finals.
Champion defeated Stratford, 54-27, and then beat Anderson on the first day, 53-44.
The Chargers returned on the second day and played two games Friday and beat Lake Belton, 57-51, and also defeated Taylor, 53-40, to stand at 4-0 at the event.
On the final day, the Lady Chargers returned on Saturday and lost to Round Rock, 41-28.
Chargers coach Jason Sanders said the team turned in a strong performance.
“I am very proud of how well we played overall in this tournament and to start the season,” he said. “We are seeing improvement each game and finding things to work on so that we will be ready for district in a couple of weeks.”
