After not making the playoffs last year, the Boerne Champion volleyball team bounced back this season and finished second in a rugged district.

The only problem is that the Chargers drew a tough team in the first round when they faced No. 12 stateranked Cedar Park Tuesday at Lehman.

Lehman won its district, also a stout one, with a record of 14-0 and swept 12 of 14 opponents during league play.

The Lady Timberwolves picked up another sweep Tuesday after they defeated the Lady Chargers in straight sets.

Champion battled but was defeated in three by Cedar Park, 25-23, 25-13, 25-20.

The Chargers end their season at 34-8 under second- year BISD coach Kelly McDaniel.

After finishing 5-9 in district last year and out of the mix, McDaniel led the 2024 Chargers to a league record of 13-3 for second in 26-5A this year and into the postseason.

Champion will graduate six seniors that helped make the turnaround possible and those six are Azteca Crawford, Hailey Cuellar, Ella Coleman, Mallory Woods, Samantha Calderon and Briley Wolff.
