It’s postseason time for area volleyball teams and three Kendall County teams in UIL and TAPPS made it.

Comfort, Geneva School of Boerne and Boerne Champion are all in action this week to start their postseason run.

Comfort

The Deer opened the 3A playoffs by upsetting District 6 – 3A champion Wall in three sets.

Comfort won Monday’s match in Sonora in straight sets, 25-19, 25-16, 25-19, to advance to the next round.

Wall won their district with a record of 11-1, while Comfort was third at 7-3. Both are in Region I, or the West Texas regional, and went to the Division II or smallschool bracket. Comfort (22-15) faces the winner of the Tolar – Henrietta contest held Tuesday in Graham.

In Tuesday’s match, Hope Van Geffen finished with 14 kills and Tindall Ahrens had 12 kills and 4 aces, Emily Hill came up with 2 blocks, while Van Geffen tallied 18 digs, Ahrens came up with 13 digs, Natalia Martinez added 12 digs and Anna Munoz recorded 9 digs.

Corinne Brown dished out 19 assists and Ansley Hill added 13 assists.

Champion

The Lady Chargers were in action Tuesday and played Cedar Park at Lehman. The winner of Tuesday’s contest takes on the winner of the Burbank and McCollum match.

Cedar Park entered the contest as the No. 12 team in the state and ran the table in district. The Lady Timberwolves went 14-0 in league play and swept their opponents in 12 of those 14 matches.

The only team they didn’t sweep was Liberty Hill after the Panthers managed to take two sets off of Cedar Park in each match, but still lost to them in five games.

Chargers coach Kelly McDaniel said Cedar Park’s outside hitters are outstanding.

“They have two really awesome outsides, one of them is 6-foot-3, that are definitely a threat for us,” she said. “They’re an athletic team and a big-blocking team as well.”

Geneva

After a first-round bye, Geneva hosted Rosehill Christian School – Tomball, Tuesday in Boerne to begin their postseason.

Actually, both teams had a first-round bye and Tuesday’s winner faces the winner of the Veritas – Academy Austin and Hill Country Christian School – Austin match.
