For the middle class, those who receive their income in payroll checks, trickle down tax cuts actually hurt not help.
When President Trump cut taxes for large corporations and the wealthy, instead of creating more jobs and raising wages the money went to buy back stock and put money in the pockets of Republican donors.
This is not the first time wage earners have been deceived by Republican policies. As a result of the Reagan administration’s tax cuts, we saw chief executive officer’s compensation grow over 1,000% by 2019 while wage earners grew less than 20%.
For nearly 250 years we have built a nation that is the envy of the world, no matter what Trump says. Trump, a convicted felon, has millions of dollars of judgments against him and his businesses, and all he can do is rant and rave about how bad our government and courts are.
Do not let Trump lies influence your thinking. Yes, we must keep working to improve our system of government; not because it is perfect, but because there is no perfect.

Harris unqualified to lead
Editor, In the viewpoints from Oct. 20, The Kendall County Democrat was right about just one thing: “It’s the economy stupid.” Unfortunately, Harris/Bidenomics have been a disaster.
He admits that “those in middle and lower-wage earning jobs are suffering from high prices and disparity in income.” That’s the way it works with inflation; those who can least afford it are hurt the most.
Democrats tell us that inflation is now down to manageable levels. They don’t seem to understand that the effects of inflation are cumulative. The Biden/Harris economic policies have cost the average family $8,000 per year.
The Kendall County Democrat continues pushing his party’s bogus talking points. He accused Trump of lying about employment and crime statistics. Apparently, this Democrat missed the Department of Labor’s last downward revision of 818,000 jobs for the 12-month period ending in March. The number of full-time jobs fell by 1.7 million from November 2023 to March 2024. That’s the worst in a similar time period since 1994.
Trump’s comments about rising crime were correct. Within the last week the FBI revised its bogus numbers and stated that instead of a 2.1% decrease in violent crime, there was a 4.5% increase during 2022.
For over three and a half years, Kamala Harris’ main job has been border czar. In that job, her accomplishments have been huge increases in illegal immigration, drug trafficking and human trafficking.
Last weekend, she told two young Christians that they were at the wrong rally. Where’s the joy in that? She has lots of plans and promises, but no positive accomplishments on her resume.
All she can do is attack Donald Trump. She is amazingly unqualified.
