Chargers played Tivy Tuesday as they prepare for playoffs that start Nov. 5

The playoff picture in 26-5A volleyball cleared up quite a bit after matches played last Friday.

The four playoff teams are in and the seeding has been determined based on Friday’s results.

Pieper, New Braunfels, Champion and Smithson Valley will represent 26-5A once the postseason starts.

Champion opens the playoffs Tuesday, Nov. 5, against Cedar Park at Lehman High School. Game time is 6:30 p.m. but could change to 6 p.m., depending on if Lehman adds another playoff match that day.

Based on enrollment, Smithson Valley and New Braunfels will go big school or DI, while Champion and Pieper will go DII or small school.

Pieper wrapped up the league title with a win over Boerne High last Friday and is 14-2.

New Braunfels and Champion were 12-3 heading into Tuesday’s regular-season finale, while Smithson Valley (10-5) clinched the final playoff spot up for grabs with its win over Kerrville Tivy (9-6) last Friday in three sets.

Smithson Valley hosted Veterans Memorial Tuesday and even if they lost and Tivy beat Champion that same day, the Rangers would still be a playoff team since they swept the Antlers this year.

Vs. Wagner

Champion improved to 33-7 overall with last Friday’s sweep at Wagner, 25-11, 25-12, 25-17.

Ella Coleman paced the team with a dozen kills, while Briley Wolff added 8 kills, Taylor Fenton tallied 7 kills and Brielle Boothe had 6 kills.

Coleman also paced the team in serving and digs and finished with 3 of their seven aces to go with 16 digs.

Wolff had a block, Samantha Calderon came up with 8 digs and Azteca Crawford recorded 7 digs and had a team-high 23 assists, while Kamryn Edwards totaled 14 digs.
