Democrats are the deceivers
Editor, America was founded as a “democratic republic.” Following the example of those who signed our founding Declaration of Independence, I support candidates and positions consistent with the purposes of our Creator by whom we “are endowed with certain unalienable rights” including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The current national Democratic ticket is the most radically and progressive party in our history. In my estimation, it represents nothing other than anti-God socialism that will fleece American citizens of even more of their hard-won freedoms and hard-earned dollars.
Also, most Democratic candidates in state and local races are supporting the same positions. The Republican position at the national, state and local levels reflects a greater commitment to those founding ideals of life and liberty. They defend religious freedoms, protect the unborn, support our military and law enforcement, stand by the nation of Israel without hedging or wavering, guard our borders and national security, favor a conservative judiciary and promote fiscal responsibility.
Republican positions more clearly respect and promote the aspirations expressed by President Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address “that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom” with “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
However, if voters choose the deceptive and progressive Democratic candidates, we should not be surprised by the loss of the freedoms we have enjoyed. Make no mistake, how we vote in this election will have implications for my freedom and yours.
Those that love America should vote for a future that will renew, rather than abandon, all the blessings and grace God has given us. Let us reject the culture that has been imposed upon us during this current administration and return President Trump to the White House.
Do not be deceived by the lies and political persecution of President Donald Trump. This election is between good and evil. Ask yourself, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”
Why are the Democrats trying so hard to keep him out of office by spewing lies? President Donald Trump cares about the American people. Democrats care about filling their pockets and remaining in control so they can do a great reset and transform America into a country the average American does not want. The Democrats are the deceivers.

Slam door on GOP economics
Editor, In Kevin Henning’s op/ed piece focused on the economy under recent Democratic presidents vs. Republican presidents, his statements about the economy being significantly better under Democrats can be fact-checked and verified, as can his accounts of Republican policies having a negative effect on average Americans (as opposed to extremely wealthy Americans, who generally do pretty well whenever Republicans run the show).
It’s well past time to close the door behind us on so-called supply-side economics and its false promise of trickle-down effects.
If nothing else, the last 40 years have proven beyond any doubt that when the Republicans “cut taxes,” it’s the moneyed class that benefits the most. The average worker, on the other hand, receives only a pittance, if that.
This upward redistribution of wealth should be called “trickle-up economics,” or more accurately, “tsunami-up economics.” It is largely responsible for the vast inequality of wealth that currently plagues America, as well as the substantial national debt this country has incurred during Republican tax-cutting sprees.
Be honest: for the average American, one making $48,000 to $327,000 a year, which of the following sounds fairer and more reasonable: 1) In effect, raising taxes on millions of average Americans by implementing an import tariff on products that are bought and used by everyday families, everything from groceries to clothes to gas to prescription drugs, or; 2) Requiring people making over $1.8 million (the top 99-99.9%) to pay “a slight tax increase in percentage terms” and expanding the Earned Income and Child Tax Credits for folks making under $400,000 per year.
If you picked no. 2, you should be voting for Kamala Harris for president and Colin Allred for Senate and ignoring all the Republican gobbledygook that passes for economic policy.

Increase not so modest
Editor, I would like to thank you for the article, “readers to see modest ...,” for educating me about the inflation that even our hometown newspaper is subject to.
However, what you call a “modest increase” is nowhere near the increase you say it is.
In February, I was informed that a two-year subscription was no longer available because of rising costs. I did not complain when my new rate went from the $50 per year I had been paying to $65 per year because, like you, inflation affects everyone.
OK, a 30% increase after all these years was acceptable. That said, in your Oct, 6 edition of the paper, you tried to make the case that inflation has made it necessary to increase the subscription rate to $75.
That to me means that, in the course of one year, my cost for two years of the Boerne Star will have increased from $100 to $150, a 50% increase.
Now I don’t know what inflation chart you’ve been studying, but it certainly isn’t the one I’ve been following.
